Happy Halloween! I want to share with you my Halloween porch decorations that was inspired by a scene from Pottery Barn.
I knew I wanted to create a display using some old crates like I saw from Pottery Barn. Seeing as how I didn’t already have an awesome vintage collection, I set off to Hobby Lobby to purchase a couple of these.
I stained both of them using Rustoleum’s Wood Stain in ebony. Add a few spiderwebs, some pumpkins, and other Halloween decorations and you got a spooky porch display!
I got the small striped pumpkins and gourds at Lowe’s. The “carved” pumpkin lights up by just plugging it in. You know how I love easy decorating!
The cat was a gift from my mother-in-law and it actually did come from Pottery Barn. I put a battery operated tealight candle in there since it’s not fire friendly. 🙂 Um, wait, is anything fire friendly? um-kay, I didn’t think so.
The lanterns I already had. They used to be white, but look waaay spookier spray painted black.
Oh, and that black crate that the cat is sitting on? Yeah, that’s not a crate. I didn’t really want to go purchase another crate but I needed sometime to elevate the cat and cover up that lovely electrical outlet hiding behind it. It’s really just a diaper box that I spray painted black and brown. Hey, at night, you’ll never know the difference!
I used sheer black fabric to make the curtains. I cut four equal pieces and tied the ends in a knot. I hooked that end to a hook on the ceiling of our porch and draped each panel to four corners.
We added some creepy cheesecloth to our bench along with a fun pillow that my neighbor made for us, because we all know, I don’t sew! 🙂
I showed you how I made my spooky Halloween wreath here. So fun and our little girl loves the big eyes looking back her.
What do you think? Enter if you dare!!! Muuaahahhahaa! Spooky enough for you? We still try to keep it fun especially with our little girl. So, around here we strive for spooky without all the creepy gory stuff. 🙂
I also went back, after these pictures were taken, and added a strand of purple lights around the front door. Now, it really glows eerily at night when it’s all lit up! I also added more pumpkins after our trip to the pumpkin patch this weekend and a few flying bats. The flying bats actually fell from all the wind we had this weekend. Arg!
I can’t wait to greet all the trick or treaters! And we have a lot of them!
How about you? Do you have alot of trick or treaters or just a handful? How many bags of candy do you buy for giving out at Halloween? We have at least six HUGE bags! Happy Halloween!!
