Spooking out the Halloween mantel is one of my favs when it comes to decorating. I used some of the same elements from last year with a few twists and a new Halloween wreath. Read on for some decorating ideas for your Halloween mantel and a free printable at the end!
I chose to stick to the traditional color scheme of black and orange and threw in more of a witch theme this year. To create some height of different levels, I pulled out some old books that were perfect for Halloween spooking. Although I’ve never read them they still send shivers up my back just seeing them propped on the mantel. This year I created a free printable of one of my favorite spooky quotes with PicMonkey. (Special “treat” for you at the end of this post!)
I’m not a big fan of candy corn, (I know… who loves Halloween but doesn’t like candy corn??!!) but it works perfect in the apothecary jar and in the little hands of my trick-or-treater. 😉
The Book of Spells I made last year by creating a book cover from craft paper. I distressed the paper with a pencil and some free-hand writing with a Sharpie pen.
I showed you how to make this Halloween wreath earlier this week, and I love how it ties the whole mantel theme together with a great focal point.
Remember when decorating your mantel for any occasion, you want to draw the eyes up and down and pull it all together. So I added some pumpkins at the floor along with some orange Halloween lights.
The cat mask on the black pumpkin might look a little familiar if you follow me on Instagram. 😉 Seems we had a little kitty cat in the house prowling around the decorations. 😉 By the way, you can pick up your own Halloween mask to make with the kiddos at Target! The creepy white spider pumpkin was super easy to make! You can see more on how to make your own when I post over at The Girl Creative next week!
I used some of my stained crates from the porch last year and added a few more pumpkins and my favorite mum to make it festive.
Looks like someone wanted in on the picture taking as well!! “Hey, take my picture Mommy!”
I’m really excited about the Halloween mantel this year and how it all came together. Everything I used was from decorations I already had, aside from the newly made wreath.
While there won’t be many people parading through the house to see it, at least we can enjoy it… especially one. 🙂
And now for the free Halloween printable!! I formatted this to print as a 5×7, but you’ll be able to print it in any size you like. To download the free Halloween printable, just click the image below. Here’s to a wicked Happy Halloween! Enjoy!!
