Hey there friends! I’m busy enjoying the week off from work with my daughter, but that doesn’t mean I’m taking off from my projects. 🙂 Miss Bree has really been getting into cooking lately, whether it be real food or pretend. So I decided it was time to add a little more fun to her cooking activities with an special DIY apron just for her. Best of all, I made it for only $8 and had it done in under 15 minutes! I picked up a child’s apron at Hobby Lobby for $3.49 on sale (because we all know I don’t sew!), some iron-on chevron ribbon, and an iron-on cupcake applique. Do you see where this is going? (Iron-on this, Iron-on that…)
This is so easy. Really. Just decide what you want to add, trim it to size, and iron-on! To apply the ribbon or applique, set your iron to the cotton setting with NO steam.
Carefully place a lightweight cloth (i.e. a thin washcloth) over the applique and gently press the iron on top. Hold for 25-30 seconds and remove the iron. Let the applique cool completely before testing the bond. For the cupcake, I also turned the apron over and ironed it from the back to insure a good bond.
I would say that my little chef was quite pleased with her new apron.
It’s a tad big on this little cook, but when there’s a two-year old in the kitchen, you can never have enough apron!! 😉 (Oh and ignore all the lovely toys and what-nots in the background. What can I say? This is the real life we live in ya’ll.)
She went right to work the next day cooking up her favorite dish: Bree’s Famous Homemade Pizza! Surely, you’ve heard of it. Afterall, it’s famous! At least in this house. 😉 Yep, she’s pretty proud of her new cooking uniform. And for some reason, she keeps asking when we’re going to make cupcakes!??? Wonder where she got that from.

So cute! And a great idea for the non-sewers in the world! Even nice for those that sew and just need a quick idea for a child! 🙂

Ha what a cutie! I love this apron idea. I think our little one will need one as well! How weird is it that I have like 10 of them and NEVER remember to put one on while I’m cooking or painting!

Haha, I have like three myself too Jacque, and never remember either so don’t feel bad! Hope you are feeling well!!
