So, here’s the thing. I love Fall just as much as the next person. Seriously, it’s my favorite time of the year. I can almost smell the pumpkin spice in the air already, but we can’t discount the last hooray of Summer, Labor Day! A time to relax and celebrate all our hard work! So to keep the patriotic spirit alive and kickin’ at the end of Summer, I created some Labor Day Pallet Art. This is an easy craft idea that can be used from Memorial Day to Labor Day!
All you need to create this flag pallet art is a pack of wooden shims, wood glue, some painters tape, and craft paint.
Start by gluing your shims together. Line them up and glue two shims in the opposite direction on the back for support. Uh, yes that is a Ballard Designs magazine under my DIY pallet. 😉 I’m a fan of reusing what you already have, okay?
I taped off my stripes and a space to paint a star.
Carefully remove the painter’s tape and reapply to paint the white stripes on the alternating shims.
To make the star, I printed an image from the computer, then cut it out to create my stencil. I painted the white star on first, then went back and painted around it in the blue craft paint.
A quick and easy craft idea to decorate for any patriotic holiday! If you like the printables, you can download them for free! Get the “God Bless America” free printable from Landee See, Landee Do, and the Patriotic Subway Art from eighteen25.
