I can never seem to find a drink coaster around here when I need one. So last time I was in Hobby Lobby I spotted some cork coasters for less than $2.00 with my coupon! Grab a little craft paint and some stencils! We are making our own drink coasters today!
These are easy and fun to make. Here are some of the supplies I used to make these coasters:
- Set of cork coasters
- craft paint in the colors of your choice
- Scotch Blue Painter’s Tape
- Martha Stewart’s letter stencils
- Alphabet stickers
- Clear Sealer spray paint
- Templates for design
Before I started painting, I created templates for the designs. I used my Fiskars large circle punch and some plain old fashioned paper. Then just start drawing and playing around with your design. I’m a visual person, so this step helps me when I planning out some crafty projects. 😉
Make stripes on your coasters using ScotchBlue painter’s tape. Be sure to press the edges of the tape down really well for crisp lines. Use sticky letters to create a reverse effect like this:
Be sure once you finish painting that you spray the coasters with a clear sealer. I used Valspar clear sealer spray paint. This will help your newly painted coasters last!
Now I won’t have to hunt for another drink coaster in the house, and these are done in my favorite fall colors! Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy some fall weather!
